Rough Cut 4

This is our 4th rough cut of our film.
Feedback
After posting this on facebook and youtube we gained some valuable feedback.
Our target audience said that it was too complicated of a story. They liked the idea but couldnt get a grasp of what we were trying to achieve and say.
Our teacher after looking at the film gave us a technical viewpoint of where we went wrong. There were sound issues at the beginning, with a lot of ambient fuzziness. Also there was not enough of the rewind shots which would give a much better idea of how weird this world was. The protagonist also has to react much more  in a scared way to give it a sense of realism and also emotion which the audience can relate to. The antagonist (blue man) will also be much more believable as a mute, as it gives him more of a mysterious nature and leaves more narrative enigma.
From this feedback, we will re-work our film to get the best out of our skills, and also something our audience can be thrilled to watch.

Rough Cut 3

After showing this feedback to our teacher we have decided that we will be:

  • Taking extra shots to set the mood more
  • Improve dialogue
  • Add credits to the end

Sounds

For our sound collection we have come across a sigh called www.freesound.org. This has a library of copyright free sound effects which you can easily log on and collect. You have to sign up to the site however, but it is free. We also will be recording some of our own sounds for the work e.g. alarm sounds.
This is a big step up from last year where we just used default sounds from the iMovie library which everyone else would be using as well.

Working with Children

After filming the scene with Will White, I know understand the point when people say 'Never work with children and Animals'

Rough Cut and Feedback

Feedback: Needs more shots of the blue man to give a more Woah! factor. Like the shots that continue same action from different angles (match on action)
Music would be good if it is slow, maybe rewind.
The shots of blue man need to be made more blue(this has been edited in this cut you see here, but this feedback was given along the way by actor Ben Gibson)

(Feedback was gained by uploading on Youtube  and then posting a post onto facebook for promotion)

Music and Sounds still need to be recorded, and noted that the titles at the beginning need to be edited e.g. 'A Short Film' will not make final cut
